I was a farm boy growing up in New England and got some frostbite damage to my face from hunting. I then moved to the sunny south and made everything worse by exposing my skin to the sun. I also had stitches in my right eye from a childhood accident which made my eyebrow droop a bit and a wrinkled forehead. I first had the blue light Levulan therapy a few years ago because I had a melanoma and it is a prescribed medical treatment. Fortunately, the treatment was effective and the risk of cancer went away. I did notice though, that it made my skin look better.
Robin first tried Botox on me a couple of years ago to raise my droopy eyebrow – and it worked brilliantly – lifting my eye and tightening my forehead. I then found myself needing to look for a new career in my late 50s, competing with much younger people. So I repeated the blue light Levulan therapy and the Botox and know I look more youthful now.
We also go out with our adult children and their friends and we don’t feel like the aged parents but fit in much better. For me I would draw a line in the sand at going under the knife but I would repeat Botox and Levulan and am considering the new shallow Ulthera treatment for the beginnings of a turkey neck.
